Jock Ferguson invited me along to take part in the official launch of his "Coronation" DVD which was filmed at Dunfermline Abbey. The film was a fun experience for me personally and I was extremely proud to have played a small part in it's creation. |
We were surprised to find that we were the only guys in the place and it wasn't long before the women made their moves on us, we all ended up on the floor dancing with each other just to let the lassies see what they weren't getting! |
Three of our gang hit the big fifty at the end of 2010 and we decided to mark it with five days in Benidorm, the women were cool with it as they thought we were auld men who wouldn't last the pace.....How wrong they were!! |
About 300 people joined the march from Stirling Castle to the city's Auld Brig, where Wallace's troops beat the English on 11 September 1297. We were led by the wonderful pipes and drums of Alloa Bowmar Pipe Band to the north bank. |
This years St Andrews Day Rally could have fell victim to the atrocious weather but the Gods above shone down on us and we at least were able to carry on in a somewhat smaller scale due to so many of our further flung friends being unable to attend. |
Scottish Patriots gathered on the field of Bannockburn to commemorate Robert the Bruce's victory against the English in 1314.
There were a few of the PTA there as were several other societies |
Once again we all headed for Strathies to start off what ended up a great wee day oot. The pub wasn't to busy when we arrived so there was plenty of time to have a chat and get reacquainted with old friends Ted Christopher was on great form as usual. |
Well that was just what the Doctor ordered, a nervy victory but a very well deserved one at that!! Full marks to Faddy, Scott Brown and the wonderful Davie Weir who gave a performance that belies his age!! |

The 28th of November 2009 was the day that the bar was raised for the annual St Andrews Day Rally in Edinburgh. Bigger, better, busier and so well organised that it looked more like a military operation!!
Well done to all involved!!
As a wee appetiser before our pal's 50th birthday a few of us headed down to St Mirren Park to watch our under 21's play Belarus on a cold October afternoon. There wasn't much going on in the game to heat us up except a few hefty tackles!! |
Another pathetic attempt at trying to qualify for a tournament and unlike the last one you can't even say this one ended in glorious failure!! The performance was good but it was too little too late and how long are we going to stick with Kenny Miller?
Davy's celebrations started off in Edinburgh the week before his "official birthday party" with his family, before all that the lads had a chance to get our hands on him first!! Our wee present proved a wee bit tight, I'll say no more!! |
This year’s commemoration was held on a very windy and dull Saturday on the 1st of August 2009, the nearest Saturday to the 5th.
A very healthy crowd gathered at Robroyston to reflect on the tragic loss of one of Scotland's favourite sons!!
Despite the result we still had a great trip in the company of the one and only PTA. The view when you fly into Norway is amazing view, a site we'll never forget. Passport Travel supplied us with a superb wee hotel in the centre of town. |

The price to get in was £15 I thought it was rather expensive, If it was cheaper or free it might have encouraged the curious to come along and sample what was on offer, if you and your wife brought 2 kids along it was costing you £50, very off putting indeed.

While up at Aberfeldy for the SADR fundraiser I couldn't help but notice the area was steeped in Scottish history, I saw one sign for the SCOTTISH CRANNOG and thought I'd like to see that!! Well this week I went back up and did just that!! |
Despite the day starting off bright and sunny and the rain holding off for the march it became monsoon season by the time we reached the monument in Callander Park and well done to everybody who stuck it out and weren't put off by the weather!! |
My good friend Jock asked me if I fancied becoming King Robert the Bruce's highland bodyguard Big Seoras for the day at the Mayfield Gala Day, how could I possibly refuse a Royal command such as that!! |
I knew it was going to be a busy day when I realised that the Artburst festival fell on the same day as the Bannockburn Commemoration!! Never mind I made them both thanks to some empty roads and not getting lost, more on Bannockburn later!! |
At very short notice our annual SADR fundraiser was hastily organised in under three weeks after we heard that Castle Menzies near Aberfeldy in the Highlands of Perthshire was available, and boy were we glad we did!!! |
I was rushed off my feet by the time I eventually got to Bannockburn this year after having double booked myself!!
No matter, when I got there it didn't take me long to find a seat and and partake in some liquid refreshment with some thirsty patriots. |
Once again we mustered at the Smithton Hotel, our base for the annual midnight service at Culloden. A warm welcome from the manager and staff ensured us we’d enjoy our stay once more.
We all gathered at midnight on the battlefield. |
We didn't have long to recover from our wee trip to Amsterdam before we had to go out and do it all again!! It's a hard life but someone has to do it.
After the excesses of Amsterdam, only three of us managed to meet up for a pre match bevvy. |
On arrival at Schipol Airport we set about getting the train into Amsterdam Centraal to find our digs, the magnificently named Durty Nelly’s in the heart of the Red Light District. Most drinks on-hand were a fiver a throw it wasn’t going to be cheap!! |
What a sight to behold, hundreds of patriots joined by tourists and bystanders who all joined in the march to make this years spectacle very very special indeed!! The site of all those Saltires marching down the Royal Mile was a special memory!! |
Scots usually don’t need any reason to have a party or a ceilidh, but in the community halls of Maryhill there was a very good reason, all proceeds from the evening were going to Yorkhill Hospital and the unit for the terminally ill kids. |
Well I’m home and my wee American adventure is finally over. I had such a great time that I can’t wait to go back again, New Hampshire is such a wonderful part of the world.
Highlight of the trip would have to be seeing Albannach perform in the USA!! |
Once again we headed off in the direction off Strathies bar on Polloshaws road in Glasgow for a wee bevvy before our bravehearts went into battle to put us in a fine position for qualifying for the World Cup Finals Aye right I'll crack the jokes. |
This years commemoration fell on the very day that William was murdered by Longshanks seven hundred and three years ago.
It was fitting that this years event was also the best I've seen in many years. |
We started our wee day out with a trip to Glasgow to partake a few beverages at the Iron Horse in West Nile St. We knew that some old friends would be there and of course Ted (better than Elvis) Christopher was the entertainment. |
As you may or may not know I'm always up for a laugh and if there's a chance to educate some kids about Scottish history then I'm there!!! Jock Ferguson got in touch with me a few weeks ago asking me if I'd like to play King Bruce's bodyguard. |
This year’s commemoration was held on a warm sunny Saturday and a healthy crowd from various groups gathered around the Robroyston Monument to reflect on the loss of one of Scotland’s favourite sons. |
It always amazes me on marches like this that you get abuse from fellow Scots on the street, such a shame but the bulk of onlookers wished us well and enjoyed the spectacle.
Many of Scotland's historic and cultural groups were represented. |
It was a nice sunny day in this old land that I call home and it was decided that a wee drive would be the order of the day, but where to go? Stirling Castle were putting on a Scottish legends weekend, what a great day out!!! |
There was a Pageant on in Arbroath as there is on the 6th April every year, so with that & the recent events involving body parts on the beach there was quite a large police presence & that restricted our movements regarding our wee march. |
I managed to get away from work early to get a few beers in before the game thanks to a big English lad called Stevie, see there not all bad!!! Cheers Stevie.
The weather was wet & windy but it didn't stop a good game of football. |
"You are hereby ordered to fall upon the rebels, the MacDonalds of Glencoe, & put all to the sword under seventy. You are to have a special care that the old fox & his sons do not escape. You are to secure all the avenues that no man escape." |
The Paisley Tartan Army were invited down to Ayrshire to celebrate Burns Night by our good friends from the "Galston Tartan Army" & what a night it was. It was my first Burns night but it wont be my last I can assure you!! |
If I die & go to heaven I'll go as a happy man after we humped the French in Paris.I have never ever felt the way I felt after the match, such a high!!! We had the drama of the last twenty minutes which was a bit of a rollercoaster of emotions for everyone!! |
We had to get up bright and early to catch our plane at Glasgow Airport getting there about four in the morning whereupon we took onboard a few liquid refreshments, might as well start the trip as you mean to go on!! |
