SCRIBBLERS PICNIC STIRLING AUGUST 2009

Despite the weather forecast predicting a downpour once again the majority of the day was dry which helped bring out the crowds to these years Scribblers Picnic at Stirling Rugby Club.

This musical event is run every year by Ted Christopher and a stack of very busy backroom staff and it's all done for cancer charities such as Strathcarron Hospice, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Maggie's Cancer Care Centres, Children's Hospice Association Scotland and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Once through the turnstiles and you got a chance to sample the entertainment on offer the entrance fee soon started looking like the bargain of the year!! The talent on display was of the very highest standard. I spent most of my time at the Fubar main stage where I got to see Double Trouble, Ted Christopher and the Bannockburn Band, The Shermans, The Encierro, The Hype, Elliot Greer, Stageworx, Albannach, Soul Inferno, Dueces Wild, Steamer Lane, Bury The Hobbits and Double Trouble, hopefully I've not missed anyone out!!

We took a walk over to the Rock Tent where the conveyor belt of talent just kept on rolling, don't know who I saw but they should be among this lot, Black Smoke, Second City, The Satriales, Ghost, Amplafones, The Ketterleys, Sythian, Flatout, No Love Lost, The Colony, Sahara Wolf, The Pagan Priests and Wraith!!

Over at the Tollbooth New Music Stage I saw a couple of bands who once again I didn't catch their name but just like everywhere on the rugby field the talent was of the highest standard and included, 3 4 All, Burn The Sunset, Conspiracy 5, Tomorrow Is History, The Froobs, Kyloe but it was The Little Eskimos that impressed me most, some great songs from these guys. There was a folk tent as well but I never knew about it until nearly going home time so never got to see any of the acts there!!

Great to see so many familiar faces there too, Crann Tara, Strathleven Artizans and Siol. The rain eventually came on but everybody just shrugged their shoulders and continued to party!!

Thanks to Albannach for their wee pressie!! Really appreciated it, as always they were awesome as was Ted, loved the addition of electric guitar, especially on "Doctor Doctor" one of my fave songs done fantastically well.

Great day, great company, great music, great value in fact to sum up the day in one word GREAT!!
